One of Phoenix’s favorite cycling locations – South Mountain – suffered significant storm damage this summer to its trails and roads, and the park’s rangers and city workers are working to repair it by the end of January.
The largest municipal park in the nation, South Mountain is home to epic mountain biking trails and a summit road climb all within a short drive from the Phoenix metro area.
City of Phoenix park ranger Allyson Pacini told Clipped In in an email that the damage to the summit road could be reopened by Jan. 31.
Pacini said the park is in need of volunteers to help with mountain biking trail repairs for these projects and dates:
Mondays: Desert Classic trail repairs afternoons, 3 p.m. until dark, location to be determined
Sundays: Desert Classic trail, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 11, location to be determined
